Sheriff’s Deputy Allegedly Distributed Ecstasy

A Harris County Sheriff’s deputy has been accused of possessing and delivering Ecstasy tablets in Houston.

Jesus Martinez, 30, surrendered to federal authorities after being investigated for drug possession charges.

In a written statement, Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia said, “Mr. Martinez owes an apology to his colleagues, his coworkers and the residents of Harris County for tainting the reputation and hard work of the vast majority of my deputies who work hard, are honest and exemplify ethical conduct at all times. His actions have tainted the good work of our deputies who risk their lives every day to keep Harris County safe.”

If convicted, Martinez faces up to 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine.
