There is an alarming increase in the amount of burglaries of pharmacies in Austin and police are asking for the public’s help in identifying any suspects.
During Halloween night in 2011 a surveillance video showed a masked man break through the scissor gate and glass to steal an undisclosed number of prescription drugs.
Just a couple of months ago the same pharmacy was hit again. This time the owner had installed another scissor gate and wood doors, which the suspect broke through with a sledgehammer.
Jeff Crawford, with APD’s Burglary Division sasy that there have been 18 pharmacies hit since August 2009. Most of these have been taken place in Central and South Austin.
Police believe it is the same suspect in all of the burglaries.
