One of the leaders in the Gulf Cartel drug trafficking was captured by Mexican marines but may face sentencing in Houston.
41-year-old Jorge Costilla Sanchez has been a major player in drug trafficking and money laundering across the Texas and Mexico border. He is also wanted for playing a part in a standoff where two law enforcement officers were threatened with execution at gunpoint.
The drug cartel member was flanked by Mexican military on Wednesday in the coastal city of Tampico.
There is still no confirmation as to whether Costilla will be extradited to the U.S. for his crimes.
