A woman has been indicted on a capital murder charge for killing a mother and taking her child outside of a pediatric center.
According to court documents, 30-year-old Verna McClain shot and killed Kala Schuchardt and kidnapped her 3-year-old baby. The baby was unharmed and found a few hours later.
McCain has three children of her own and works for a staffing agency that hires nurses.
If convicted, McCain could be facing the death penalty or life in prison without parole.
